A Local Reinactor Plays the Part of a Wheelman riding an OrdinaryLocated on the beautiful Oak Orchard River in Western New York, Wheelman's Rest is a 200 year-old farm with a rich history and a unique present time story.

The name "Wheelman's Rest" comes from a time in the late 1800's and early 1900's when travellers on large wheeled "ordinary" bicycles, as in the photo at right, on their way to the shores of Lake Ontario would stop to catch their breath and have a drink of cold, clear water before continuing on their way.

Today wheelman's rest is home to artist and writer J. L. Fleckenstein (known to her readers as "firefly") and her husband ... a couple with a unique, romantic story that has been delighting online readers of the popular weekly blog, I Live on a Farm.
